Carnival

It was one of those burning Aussie summer days. The grass scorched bare feet, the steering wheel was a hazard to touch, and the tar road melted on the horizon. My friends and I had been lying by a river, after a big pub lunch, reading the newspaper, dozing off to the sound of distant drunkards. I went wondering through a closed carnival in the town, looking for a bathroom, and I saw these two boys pushing each other around on the dodgem cars. Apparently one hadn't been locked up the day before, so it was a free for all. I hope one day these boys find these photos, one for the memory books.
